BSANZ member profile
I am a book historian, archivist and librarian, recently retired as archivist of a large Melbourne girls’ school. In Canada, I completed a Master of Library and Information Science at University of Toronto where a last-minute decision to take a course in analytical bibliography shaped the rest of my working life and led to involvement in many projects including compiling bibliographies of two major Canadian publishers, and roles in rare book libraries and archives. A highlight was being the project manager for the History of the Book in Canada/Histoire du livre et de l’imprimé au Canada, a six-volume publication (three in English, three in French) documenting Canadian print culture. I then moved into the digital world as project director for Historical Perspectives on Canadian Publishing, a website featuring archival resources from three universities.
I fell in love with Melbourne on my first visit over 20 years ago, emigrating several years later. I took on the school role and was warmly welcomed by the archival community, later becoming convenor of the ASA’s Victorian School Archivists special interest group. Since retiring, I volunteer for Uniting Heritage and Landcare and am greatly looking forward to re-immersing myself in the book history world via the opportunities BSANZ offers. I look forward to meeting many of you at upcoming events.
